This is the slopey arete to the left of Check The Method. It also shares the same finish as Check The Method. Start to the right of the tree with a left hand pinch on the far arete and a right undercling. Traverse rightwards.

A short but fun problem on quality rock that climbs the most obvious feature on the boulder.  Sit start with all of your fingers in the crimpy flake.  Pulling off the ground is probably the crux.  Move up left to the hanging arete and follow it to the lip.  Pop over the top and then you're done.

This route shares a start with No Need To Be Gripped(V3). But instead of following the flake up and left go up and right onto some good crimps on the face and go up and right. The crux is establishing your feet on the blank part of the face below the crimps. 

  This route is kinda squeezed in but it is a fun option I think more fun the No Need To Be Gripped(V3). 

  I'm sure this has been done before so if anyone knows of another name for it or any FA info let me know and I will fix it accordingly. I have given it the name Imperial Action because it sort of takes over No Need To Be Gripped.

A great traversing face climb that sometimes suffers from seepage.  Sit start on two crimps with a good left foot (use the upper hold of the two out left).  The right crimp used to be bigger, but you only need it to get off the ground.  Smear your right foot in the small scoop, pull off the ground and then bump out right to the sloper.  Twist your left toe into a toe hook/dropknee and use body tension to cross left hand up to the diagonal edges.  Get your feet back underneath you and climb straight up to a hidden jug out right.  Topout. 

  Starting matched on the sloper is V5, awkward, and nowhere near as cool.

On the left-hand side of the main face of the Trailside boulder, there are two relatively juggy edges. Grab these and make a fairly height-dependent dyno to the sloping lip of the boulder. Stick it and top out on good holds.

This problem starts matched on an edge left of the start of 'No Need To Be Gripped'. Use a somewhat techy heel hook to snag a decent right hand sidepull and then bump the right hand again to the good sidepull/flake. Hold a difficult (at the grade) barn door and top it out! 

  This problem is substantially harder than either of the problems to the right and likely closer to v4.

A thin, technical, fun slab up the backside of the boulder.  Stand start just left of the tree with a big pinch on the arete for your right hand and a nothing crimp for your left.  Pull onto a decent right foot and stem left to a small hold.  Press/mantel your foot up onto the pinch and follow tiny crimps up to a thank-god jug at the lip. 

  Don't get scared and move left into Stairstep Method.

Sit start on the a BIG Left hand side-pull and a right hand crimp just left of the obvious arete. Climb up using crimps and slopy arete to top out.

A fun finger crack that requires some layback and jamming skills.  Pull on and layback the crack for a move or two until you can get a high fingerlock and some toes in the crack.  Grab the juggy lip and topout to the right to avoid the tree. 

  Incorrectly called Backside Arete in the guidebook, which then describes it as "climb the crack."

Want to bag a quick one-move wonder?  Jump on this.  Using a terrible sidepull undercling (looks like it broke at some point), pull off the ground and stab into the vertical slot with your left hand.  Move up into jugs and topout.  Getting off the ground is the crux and is entirely dependent on body position and finger strength. 

  Short, but can be fun or frustrating.

Hard to miss and rarely climbed.  This unmistakable crack is easy to see from the Method Area and should probably see more attention.  Stand start with a left hand in the crack and a right hand on the arete.  Get your feet on, one against the crack and the other smeared, and fire for the V-slot at the top of the boulder.  Stick it and the topout is easy.  Miss it and enjoy the fall.

Think expansion.  Start sitting with left hand on the arete and the right hand on a good sidepull.  Pull up and snag a perfect crimp with your right hand.  Bump left hand up the arete.  Crouch and dyno for all you're worth to the great jug above.  Control the swing and you're in!  Push out the mantle, of course.

Start sitting on the trailside of the Method boulder and power your way onto the arete to gain some pinches and tricky footwork. The remainder of the climb is tricky, maybe even more than it looks. 

  Once you are on top, you ave to jump across the trail to another boulder then downclimb that one.

Sit down at the bottom of a Large rail/flake climb the flake to gain a slopey top out.

Check the Method is a good boulder problem for those of us who have more technique than power. It climbs the beautiful crimpy face by way of a combination of tricks and small holds. Start sitting with a slopey right hand crimp and a left hand undercling/sidepull. Pull off the ground and crimp/bump/smear/toss your way up to better holds at the top. Topping out is easy.

I've yet to find this one in a climbable state and it's usually underwater, but it doesn't look too bad.  Sit start underneath the small overhang and work up to the flake.  Reach up and left to crystals before finishing up.  Either a beaver needs to build a dam, or climb this when everything is frozen.

Start with both hands on an undercling at chest height and establish your feet on the crystals. Move out right to a sharp sidepull, crimp the crystals, and slap the lip. Feels impossible until it feels doable if that makes any sense.

Climb the Slab. start standing about 5 feet Left of the arete. Contine on crimps to a slopey top out.

Climbs the crystals up the face.  Sit start with both hands down low on the flake.  Power up left hand to a crimp (crux), then follow crystals.  A high step and a toss gets you to the lip.  Mantel to finish.  The stand start is hard V4.

Sit start the easy low angled slab on the corner of the boulder near the trail.

This is an overlooked problem right on the trail with some fun, if awkward, climbing. The route climbs the overhung left-hand arete of the face on the Trailside boulder that faces downhill towards the Method boulder (the face with the tilted, rising boulder under it). From two good edges low on the left arete, make a hard move with poor feet to a decent edge on the face, then work up on edges and slopers to a challenging topout on slopers and crystals at the apex of the boulder. The landing for the topout is awkward because of the boulder directly underneath you and unfortunately this detracts from the quality of the problem, but it's a good one to try when you're tired of the others in the area.

The Method Area is home to numerous quality problems, the majority of which are difficult test pieces, but there are easier problems to be found.  Six boulders sit within viewing distance of each other - The Method Boulder, The Outback Boulders, and the Trailside Boulder.  Each have their own style.  Enjoy F*** The Method, the Crystal Method, Expanding Man, No Need To Be Gripped, or the Method Slab and try to save some skin.
