Interrogation

Interrogation is on the Berlin Wall, and starts just left and uphill from

Blitzkrieg

.  Climb straight up steep and blocky rock; pull the roof (11c/d), step right and climb up to a good rest on the left (12a).  Head up and right onto a steep layback corner/ramp.Layback for several feet; then make a series of very difficult moves up and hard right (12c) until the climbing eases off. Climb up easy rock clipping one last bolt before the anchors.

This is the leftmost route on Berlin Wall, starting on black rock just right of the gully/crack. Rossiter's book shows it as only having one bolt, but there are four (maybe some were added later, though all the hardware looks old). Multiple tricky cruxes, balancey, and technical.

You'll encounter a long runout above the last bolt (we only TR'ed it, but it looks spicy) -- though you could clip the last bolt on Dachau for further protection up high.

Perfect rock, though the top is quite licheny and needs traffic/brushing. A great pitch. Four bolts to ring-and-chain anchors up over the ledge. Not exactly easy for the grade.

Fall of the Wall is located on the Berlin Wall, with occupies the amphitheater between the Krishna Buttress and Wall of Winter Warmth.  Approach via the steep gully that climbs to the terrace at the base of the Wall if approaching from Boulder Falls, or rappel in from the top if approaching from Upper Dream Canyon parking area.  Fall of the Wall starts circa 20 feet to the right of Iron Curtain.  Ascend the black water streak up to the thin-holds crux between bolts 2 and 3 and follow bolts up and slightly left over the left-facing corner/rooflet onto the tricky headwall (11+) above.

.  This technical, 90 foot route has three distinct cruxes (the roof band, the headwall, and the exit moves through the final hang / groove).  Although the route has good rests, the climbing is surprisingly engaging.  Climb blocky / broken rock to a high first clip (or stick clip); power through the roof / hang via small but positive holds; a technical section on the headwall yields the second crux; rest and then exit via the black overhung groove directly above.

Dachau was retro-bolted in 2017 with the permission of the first ascent party after a key hold broke on the most runout section of the original line which was done in 1984 with only one bolt.

Look for a positive crimp to clip from just inches right of the 2nd bolt. It is a bit runout above the 6th bolt, but the climbing is easy at that point and not nearly as run as the first ascent on gear.

The original 5.11a trad line shared the start with Iron Curtain just to the right then moved left along a dirty line of weakness near the top. The sport route adds a direct start as well as a cleaner direct finish and bumps the grade up a little.

It was a bold effort by the FA party to do this line with one bolt! As a sport climb, it's excellent power endurance climbing and as good as anything else on this stacked wall.

Ascend steep, blocky rock to a knee-bar rest under the large roof/prow (12a).  Launch into a series of very bouldery (V8/9) moves to get established on the exposed prow; finish with 30 feet of enjoyable 11a climibing.

Climb the obtuse, left-facing corner system, via a bolt, small wires, and Friends.  Climb up to the bolt and move right under the bulge to the corner system.

Mostly a jug haul, Checkpoint Bravo is probably the best bet for a warm-up as the holds are open handed unlike the crimpy

Walpurgisnacht

(11a). Climb broken rock to a fun roof (black and white rock), pull through using key underclings - it is slightly runout to the next bolt and chains.

Any escape from East Germany was difficult since you had to climb over the Berlin Wall.

East Germany is located on the Berlin Wall, which occupies the amphitheater between the Krishna Buttress and Wall of Winter Warmth.  Approach via the steep gully that climbs to the terrace at the base of the Wall if approaching from Boulder Falls, or rap in from the top if approaching from Upper Dream Canyon parking area.  Start East Germany by clipping the first bolt on Fall of the Wall and diagonal up and right to the vertical line of bolts and the route's technical layback/crimp crux (13a).  The climbing eases off until the final (11d/12a) section under the roof overhang.

One might think that at a wall with mostly 11s and 12s, the 5.10 down at the end might be a good warm-up. This is not always the case. C.C. is a bit physical and also a head-game.

I did a few laps on this one to clean it, and at this point, the route offers mostly good protection, mostly good rock, and a crux with flaring fingerlocks above a somewhat suspect flake into an off-balance overhang. The bush in the crux hand-crack is (mostly) gone, and I tested the flake as much as I was willing to with my belayer below, and it seems reasonably solid.

Start down and right on the wall, climbing a few face moves up the left side of a blunt arete to reach that crack. Establish yourself in said crack, and follow it to its end at an upward-protruding, 2" thick flake the size of a TV set. Get up and onto this, protect the crack above (1.25-1.5" cam), and do the awkward and "engaging" crux to make a transition onto the left wall. A hand-sized cam is handy to have as you exit the crux. Continue on up easier moves and within reach of a few of the bolts of

Checkpoint Bravo

to the left, keeping an eye out on the right for the shared bolted anchor for both routes.
