A neat way to reach the taunting upper finger crack above the Torpedo Bay anchors. A beautiful steep finger splitter headwall.

At the top of Nina, clip the anchor and bust some quick compression moves to pull out right onto the slab. Clip a high bolt and step up to the hand rail. A long stem right gains the crack - establish a jam, drop in, and go! Powerful locks with almost no feet. Anchor with chains on the face left of the crack

Nina is a 65 ft splitter in the back right corner of the  Shipyard canyon as you approach from the road. It sits  between Electronic Battleship (10.c), and Torpedo Bay  (12.c), both of which are obvious cracks with anchors. Hike out of the draw and contour North along the cliff base,  you are sure to find these three routes. Nina begins in a wide crack in a left facing corner. Jam fists to wide hands through a bulge for about 15 ft and climb good hands through the face above for another 25 ft. The crack gradually thins towards the top and is difficult thin hands at about 50 ft. It thins to fingers or liebacking for 10 ft (crux) and finishes on some good face holds below the  anchor.  I would give this route three stars if it were longer, but then again, I was glad that it was over when it was.  Those with big mitts may be reduced to crying ninas pequenas on this one.

Starts in small left facing corner, jam and stem your way through a variety of sizes. The top out is tricky.

Begin up great hands, widening into a brief pod.  Find the hidden jugs to pull through the fat crack and back into hands.  Work upwards, chimneying and stemming to the finish, protecting with small gear.

A nice line despite the wide appearance. An enjoyable mix of stemming, laybacking, and straight in jamming.

Dive up into the easy chimney pod to start things out. Get some high fat gear and pull onto the face. Laybacking continues most of the way to the top as the crack pinches down to great fingers. Creative stem rests will help beat the pump.

200 yards right of the ship yard is a flake, crack system on black rock. Good face climbing with ample gear!

This route is 30' slightly uphill from Nina.  It is characterized by a widening crack that eventually thins and angles slightly left to meet another crack for a stem near the visible anchors. Start with hands, which leads to large fists.  I have big hands and could barely get enough friction with both fists jammed to pull myself up.  The wide section narrows after 20', at which point a stem with some finger action will lead to the anchors. 60'  A good climb for someone with a thin rack.
