The Golden Shot

Mixed route. Has some good cracks. To a wild overhanging finish with big "gym knobs".

Crux at first bolt.  Lots of fun steep big hold climbing up high after that.

This route climbs the steep prow towards the left end of the crag.

Clip the first bolt from the ground, then start up on the left to reach a sloping shelf that allows you to move right and reach the 2nd bolt.   Fun moves on positive holds gains a good hold next to the 3rd bolt.

Make a powerful sequence of moves up to the 3rd bolt then commit to a wild sequence before the 4th bolt can be clipped.   With the bolt clipped move more easily up to the anchors.

A steep and powerful route.

Climb the arete. Easier on the left side. Crux is around the 5th bolt. Climbing the arete directly is around 10b, and fun climbing, but most people move into the corner for an easier time.

Optional top-rope variation (once the route has been led) is to climb the short corner to the right to start: 5.10+ laybacking.

Start in the right facing corner and ascend to a bulge. Layback this first bulge on good right facing slots into the niche, continue up over the crux with similar moves to the chicken head and the top.

Up a white slab to finish on an overhanging dark dihedral. Crux in the upper half of the slab. (I've given it a ratng of 5.12a - not because I believe that number is correct, but because the crux was too hard for me.)

In the 4th edition of the print guidebook by Marty Lewis, this line is labeled "Unknown" and given no rating.

Just to its right is another climb (not in the print guidebook) following crack/corner system which has some bolts. Then to the right of that climb is "All Work No Spray".

I'm posting this route not because I know it well, but to inspire someone else who does know to clarify the name and creator and difficulty -- and clarify which line is which on left half of the North face sector of Stream Wall.

Hopefully that person will take over "ownership" and make this Description page what it should be.

Start below the left facing corner.

Climb up the vertical wall with long reached until under a small overlap in the corner.   Pass the overlap and exit right passing the last bolt up to the anchors.

The organ pipe looking flakes below the overlap are not to be trusted.

Crux up high.  A little sporty at the crux with the ledge below.  Some people go left and right around the crux.

Climb up to the overhang.   Clip the 2nd bolt over the overhang, then launch up the technical face above the overhang.

Despite its short length this has good climbing on excellent rock toped off with fine exposure.
