, but instead of turning the large roof, traverse left on the ledge and surmount a much smaller and easier one.  Excellent fingerlocks and handholds and a good flake to get your right foot upon while overcoming this roof make this an easy route.  Above the roof, scramble straight up in a wide crack (practically a chimney) above, or else venture right onto the slab for more interesting climbing.

This route is described as 5.11 in Rossiter's book, but I thought it was more like 5.10 (I was on TR though).  Walk up the hill along the west face from the amphitheater trail for 60 feet.  There's a left-inclining ramp.  Start where the ramp is chest height and there is a left-pointing flake 10 feet above that.  Climb on top of the ramp, and pull a balancy crux to get to the top of the flake.  Move right on crisp edges and up to the ridge, passing under a large boulder to the right.  From up top, you can walk to the left on the ridge crest to another boulder and rap from a webbing anchor.

This route is on the East Face of the Third Pinnacle (facing the Amphitheater) and ascends a left facing dihedral located near the center of the face. It is not to be confused with Halls of Poison Ivy which is located on the Fourth Pinnacle...

Climb the left face of the dihedral passing a ledge with poison ivy on the left and a roof band also on the left. When the dihedral runs out you will reach a large ledge. Traverse left to the base of the 15 foot summit block until you find a fist crack. Climb the crack to the top.

As a variation you can traverse left after the poison ivy ledge and crank the roof at any of two wide cracks then continue up to the summit block. This variation is probably in the 5.6 range.

Descent: Downclimb the fist crack off the summit block and scramble West to hiking territory

This is an easily accessible, after-work roof-practice climb.

To get there, take either the Amphitheater Anchor Access or Amphitheater Express trail up to a small level area at the base of the third Pinnacle, directly west of the second Pinnacle and the top of the Amphitheater.

The anchor points for this one are easily reached via a short hike around the northern side of the rock, but note that there are no fixed bolts, so you'll need to set your own pro if you decided to toprope. Begin the climb by gaining a ledge about 15' up, either straight up the slab or by following an easy crack and dihedral to its right. Turn the ~3 foot roof above, using plentiful, good handholds, and then scramble to the summit.  f you're leading this one, be sure to set enough pro to keep from decking on the ledge directly below.

This is more of a boulder problem than a climb for most folks, I suspect, but we did the line with a rope for lack of knowledge of it.

Find this climb by first finding a chockstone gully about 1/2 way up the West side of the formation.  This climb is just downhill from that and has a short but obvious handcrack section in the last 3' of climbing.

The climb starts in a series of flakes in a left-facing flake and corner system (unprotected 5.5) and then climbs up to mantle onto the top flake. A few hand-sized pieces here protect a balancy move to the top.

Top out, place a 2" cam directional in the crack, then scramble North (left) for 20' to a good tree to belay.

To exit, scramble easy 3rd class to the North for 50' and back to the trail.

Toward the right side of the 3rd Pinnacle above The Amphitheatre you will see a large hunk of rock leaning [against] the face, and a [tree growing] out of the rock just about that. This is right of the distinguished "[triple] cracks" of

Trident

. Climb the flake and past the tree to reach a crack that goes up though a few steep moves and to the top of the rock. I have not placed gear in this, but it appears that it would protect on a set of large cams and hexes, maybe with a few stoppers. Despite its name, it is not a particularly wide crack, and will require no pro above fist-sized.

This fun route starts at the very bottom of the South ridge which, as described on the Rock description, is 2 feet from the amphitheater trail a couple of 100 feet past the amphitheater.

Getting onto the rock is the hardest move of the climb. It felt really tough for 5.6 and word has it that a hold broke some time in the past...

Once you manage to get onto the rock scramble up and right 30 feet on tricky and unprotected rock. I would have given this an S rating. From there, continue right and up easier rock around an overhang and reach the ridge for your first belay. The second pitch continues up the ridge downclimbing a step. Run the rope to the end of the ridge on hiking territory and belay just West and below the summit block.

Although this short route is referred to in the Rossiter book as a miniature route, I had no idea how short it would be. It's not quite 20 feet tall! No less, it's a fun boulder problem or a short steep crack with good jams and gear (2.5").

The crux is topping out, where the crack ends and the finishing flake that is jammed in wobbles. It seems OK though, after inspecting it, I must admit it gave me a spook while climbing it. It is better than the nearby slopers.

To descend, downclimb the 3-3.5" crack on the lower angle East face to the ledge that is followed North, back down to the ground.
