This route takes the obvious arete from the very toe of the formation to the top. The crux comes low on the route, just above the first bolt as you get established in the crack/groove out left. Continue up solid flakes and overlaps staying slight right, taking advantage of natural protection where available. Two bolts protect the steeper climbing towards the top, gear anchor with medium to large cams. Walk off down the long gully on the climber's left of the formation or rappel from the one bolt anchor of Layback and Relax.

Song Of The Sun

Ascend up intermittent cracks and awesome knobby face climbing to a low angle bench before a slightly overhanging thin headwall. Layback up the tips crack in the right facing ramp/corner clipping three bolts until you have to traverse right to reach the next crack. Granite voodoo with small holds, techy sequences, and some try hard will get you through the crux. Luckily, there is a bolt right at your face as you are doing the hardest moves, so the route climbs pretty mellow with a nice clean fall. Single bolt anchor supplemented with an extended #2 or #3 placement.

'Song Of The Sun' ascends a beautiful striking buttress near the right center portion of Kenu Wall. Stellar views of the Brush Creek Spires, Ghost Rock and the Kern River Valley are rewarded from the base of the buttress. The route heads up the center of the buttress, passing 4 bolts (the crux is getting to the 4th bolt). Once at the 4th bolt, tip toe up and left to the right-hand crack above. Head up the amazingly clean fist crack (#3 and #4 Camelots) for 40'. When the crack ends, move around the left side of a huge block, then move  up and right. Once on top of the block , make an exposed move back left onto the face and clip a bolt. Climb another 20' before arriving at the ring anchors. NOTE: Optional pro approx. 6' above the last bolt (green Alien or .2 Camelot Jr.).

A note of caution! Although the crack continues above the huge block, it is not recommended to follow it as a finishing variation since it terminates at the base of a refrigerator sized rock resting on a small ledge.
