Short but engaging moves utilizing both the arete and the occasional seam are played out on quality tan stone with the odd patina patch.

The approach is steep and mostly uphill, but the expansive views, sense of isolation and other worthy climbs nearby make this a place to explore if so inclined.

The area surrounding the Cowboy Crags burned in a fire a number of years ago, and the charred remnants of vegetation can add an eerie feel to this area at times. Two stars out of five.

Wisest Crack

This route is located on a large slabby-looking section of rock, near the left-hand part of this cliff band. In the photo, it is the right-hand (and cleaner looking) of the two large slabby outcrops, up and right of Saddle Rocks.

Begin near the right side of the slab, near a large pine tree. Up a flake to a bolt; then head left and up on face to a 2nd bolt (5.9). More face climbing up and left leads to a left-slanting thin crack which is followed until you can climb straight up to the top.

The last section of the route is joined by The Unbearable Lightness Of Being (5.9) which comes up a thin crack from the left side of the face.

Begin on the far left side of largest slab at the Cowboy Crags about 50 feet up and left from Cling Peaches. Face climb up to, then climb a long, J-shaped crack. Where the crack peters out climb the slab up to the finish of Cling Peaches, following some thin cracks to the top.

You can rap from slings off a natural anchor (rock bollard) up and left from the finish of the route (<100 feet rap). Bring some webbing/rap rings. Otherwise, it's a long descent heading east across the top of the cliff band until the cliff diminishes, then all the way back around to the base.

This route begins from a flat area atop a large rock, above and to the right of the main slabby face where Cling Peaches and The Unbearable Lightness Of Being are located.

Up the very obvious left-facing dihedral which starts off the left side of the ledge. The rock is a nice chocolate brown and is impeccable in quality. A fun easy climb.

Descend by scrambling around to the right.
