Dino's Egg

Located on the northern side of the Dino's Egg Boulder where a large chunk has broken off.

Sit start around and right from the

Sit Down Flake

(V2) and hand traverse the lip of the boulder around and left to top out as for the Sit Down Flake. The problem isn't especially difficult (5.9) or strenuous and your feet are never more than a few feet above the ground.

This obvious but easier problem is not listed in the Joshua Tree bouldering guide but is another fun problem in the area.

Start in the middle of the face at the obvious positive crimp and climb directly up the face.

This problem is found above the sit down flake (V2) on the second tier of the Dino's Egg boulder.

Start with a good left sloper and an in-cut right hand using the positive rail on the underbelly (see picture).  Move to a sloper and head towards the jug above the lip, finishing with a not-a-gimme mantel (see picture).  Squamish style and a bit thuggy.

Start with a high left hand, pull onto the rock and then up and right to match on a large patina plate. Leaving the plate, which is the last positive hold, work slopers over the rounded top and get your foot up onto the starting holds before rocking over. Short and fun and a lot less scary than it's neighbor just right.

Hang off some big huecos at the start with the right side of your body against the rock on the right - it can't be helped - and then work up and left into them and then up to finish, or better yet, by heading slightly right and stemming up a concave patina groove to finish. Make sure to have some spotters ready as falling at the wrong spot on this wouldn't be good.

This is a decent problem with some fun moves and good rock but the contrived start detracts slightly from the overall experience.

Start with a good right hand hold and make a couple of tricky moves and reach better holds on the slabby arete.   Finish easily up leftwards.

Sit start in the middle of the face at the obvious crimp holds and bad feet. Work up to crimps and finish on west face.

Sit start with hands matched on good incut edges, pull off the ground and then reach for the lip and mantle over. A true one move wonder that's still somewhat enjoyable.

Grab the rounded edge of the hueco, make some steep moves as you pull into the hole and get stood up. Now the fun bit as you work slightly left and out of the hueco with handholds that get more sloping the higher you get as the bulging wall pushes your lower body out. Ignore the boulder below, get the balance right and top out. Note: It's possible to step off the problem midway onto the boulder below but at a certain point you're committed, although you can also traverse off right to finish on The Clutch.

This is a good problem, but one best appreciated by those not bouldering at or near their limit on this.
